Track boundary clearance without intrusion is a critical safety boundary for rail transit operations and serves as the "lifeline" for safe train operation. However, as operational mileage continues to rise, subway train operating conditions are gradually shifting from enclosed environments to open ones. Incidents both domestically and internationally involving foreign object intrusions affecting train operations have occurred frequently—ranging from occasional unexpected falling of equipment inside tunnels, to tunnel portal collapses, and construction activities near the tracks. All these factors can lead to foreign objects breaching the clearance, imposing higher demands on the safety of rail transit operational boundaries.
In response to these industry pain points and safety challenges,Traffic Control Technology , drawing inspiration from Tesla's innovative approach, has deeply integrated artificial intelligence technology and launched the Intelligent Train Eye(ITE) providing an efficient and feasible industry solution for rail transit boundary safety protection.
01 TCT Insight: ITE System Establishes a New Active Protection System for Track Boundary Clearance
The ITE system leverages LiDAR, machine vision, and artificial intelligence technologies to build a multi-modal fusion AI detection model. It achieves highly secure detection of the track environment and obstacles, as well as high-precision positioning. When an obstacle is detected, the system can trigger an alarm or even automatically implement system protection.
02 Clearance Detection: Multi-Sensor Fusion Creates an "Intelligent Eagle Eye"
The system equips the train with a smart eagle eye, integrating advanced sensors such as LiDAR, visual cameras, and millimeter-wave radar to form a collaborative perception network. Through intelligent algorithm analysis, the system can accurately identify trains at a distance of 300 meters and detect pedestrians at 120 meters, with a false alarm rate far below standard requirements. This achieves the perception capability of "seeing far and recognizing accurately."
03 Precision Positioning: Centimeter-Level Accuracy for "Seamless Switching"
By matching LiDAR point clouds with high-precision maps, the system achieves centimeter-level positioning accuracy (±10 cm) in platform areas. When traditional positioning equipment fails, the system can seamlessly switch to perception-based positioning, ensuring continuous safe train operation and significantly improving operational reliability.
04 Practical Application: Deep Expertise and Broadly Proven Results
TCT has deep expertise in the field of active perception and a mature technical system. Its perception technology has been validated and applied on 30 lines across 10 cities nationwide, with a cumulative operating mileage of over 10.57 million kilometers and more than 15 TB of operational data. The volume of real-world line validation data ranks among the highest in the world. Rich scenario data and engineering experience provide solid support for continuous technological iteration and upgrades, enabling the ITE system to achieve fully mature engineering applications and safety assurance capabilities. At present, the system has been successfully deployed on metro operation lines in cities such as Beijing, Hong Kong, Taiyuan, and Chengdu, completing the critical transition from technical validation to engineering application and officially entering a new stage of large-scale adoption.
