Preface
Recently, the 51st International Exhibition of Inventions of Geneva was held in Geneva, Switzerland. As one of the oldest, largest, and most prestigious invention exhibitions in the world, this year's event brought together over 1,000 innovative inventions from 35 countries and regions. Traffic Control Technology Co., Ltd., together with MTR Corporation, participated as part of the Hong Kong delegation. Their two core technologies developed in collaboration — the Rail Slide Prediction and Prevention System and the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) Tunnel Inspection System — stood out in the fierce competition due to their exceptional innovation, practicality, and forward-looking vision. Both projects won the highest honor: the "Gold Medal with the Congratulations of the Jury."
The Geneva International Exhibition of Inventions is renowned as the "Olympics of Invention," and its awards enjoy a prestigious reputation worldwide. The "Gold Medal with the Congratulations of the Jury" received this time is the highest-level award established by the exhibition, often regarded as the "gold medal among gold medals." The fact that both technologies won this honor simultaneously not only represents the highest recognition of the technical value of the projects but also serves as a significant milestone of international recognition for China's smart transportation solutions, earning a world-class reputation for "Intelligent Manufacturing in China." Among them, the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) Tunnel Inspection System winning this top honor is particularly noteworthy. This project is the only breakthrough practice involving beyond-visual-line-of-sight (BVLOS) flight within tunnels among the first batch of projects under the low-altitude economy "regulatory sandbox."
Focusing on Industry Pain Points, Showcasing Innovative Solutions for Smart Operation and Maintenance
At the exhibition venue, the two award-winning technologies demonstrated their innovative capabilities in the field of intelligent operation and maintenance for three-dimensional transportation through live demonstrations.
The Rail Slide Prediction and Prevention System is an intelligent early warning solution developed by Traffic Control Technology to address the critical pain point of wheel-rail slippage in rail transit operations. The system integrates high-definition camera monitoring,real-time weather sensing, and advanced data analysis technologies to dynamically and continuously assess rail adhesion conditions, accurately predicting the risk of wheel slippage under different environmental conditions. When a risk threshold is detected, the system issues an immediate warning signal, providing a scientific basis for operational dispatching decisions and preventing slippage-related risks at the source, thereby significantly enhancing the operational safety and stability of rail transit lines. The implementation of this technology represents a shift in wheel-rail maintenance from "post-incident response" to "pre-incident prevention,"offering technical support for refined rail transit operations.
The Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) Tunnel Inspection System represents an important innovative achievement by both parties in the integration of low-altitude technology and rail transit operations and maintenance. The system utilizes the "golden two hours" of non-operational nighttime hours. With advanced technology, the UAV autonomously flies within tunnels lacking GPS signals, scans the environment, and constructs real-time flight maps with precise positioning. Addressing the industry challenges of complex tunnel environments, low efficiency, and high risks associated with manual inspections, the system can automatically complete inspection tasks. If an anomaly is detected, the UAV immediately captures high-definition images and transmits them back to the management platform, automatically generating a report after the inspection concludes. Its patrol speed is more than twice as fast as maintenance personnel walking. While significantly improving inspection efficiency, coverage, and detection accuracy, it also greatly reduces operational costs and safety risks for personnel. This innovative application injects a new "technological speed" into consolidating Hong Kong's reputation as the "world's leading public transport city."
The two technologies winning international awards this time is the result of collaborative innovation between Traffic Control Technology and MTR Corporation, and further serves as international validation of the company's technological prowess in intelligent operation and maintenance for three-dimensional transportation. As a core supplier in this field, the company focuses on industry pain points, drives development through technological innovation, and continuously explores deep integration between cutting-edge technologies and real-world scenarios. Looking ahead, the company will deepen international cooperation, refine its core technologies, and develop solutions that precisely meet market demands. Leveraging this achievement at the Geneva International Exhibition of Inventions, the company aims to promote international exchanges and implementation of its technologies, enabling China's scientific and technological innovations to reach the world and contributing Chinese solutions and strength to the development of global smart transportation.
