October 22, 2021, the awarding ceremony of the 2021 Zhongguancun 5G Innovation Application Contest Finals and the 4th "Blooming Cup" 5G Application Solicitation Contest Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Region Competition, and awarding of the final roadshow were unveiled in the Zhongguancun National Independent Innovation Demonstration Zone. Traffic Control Technology Co., Ltd. ("TCT") 5G Innovation Laboratory ("Innovation Laboratory") project won the second prize of the National Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Regional Competition. Also, it was selected as a key innovation project of the Zhongguancun 5G Innovation Application Competition and won the third prize.
The 4th "Blooming Cup" 5G Application Solicitation Contest is sponsored by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. Themed as “Focus on technological strength, and Promote smooth internal circulation", the Contest is seeking excellent demonstration cases of 5G + Smart City (Internet of Things), 5G + Industrial Internet, 5G + Converged Media, 5G + Application scenarios such as Internet of Vehicles, 5G+ emergency management (drones) from all over the world, which are highly technological and supported by complete implementation solutions. It aims to solve the difficulties in industrial development by focusing on promoting replication of applications and further deepen the cross-industry collaborations, setting a model for 5G industry applications.
TCT has in possession of the only national engineering laboratory for urban rail transit train communication and operation control as approved by the National Development and Reform Commission, on which basis an independent 5G private network has been built. With the rapid development of 5G technology, TCT worked with Beijing Mobile, Beijing Jiaotong University, as well as H3C to jointly establish a 5G joint innovation laboratory for rail transit, aiming at promoting the integrated development of the rail transit industry and 5G technology.
In the context of rail transit application scenarios, the laboratory has achieved application of 5G eMBB, uRLLC and other features in such services as train-ground communication, coordinated formation, remote driving, intelligent monitoring, trackside detection, intelligent perception, etc. The services involve 5G network train-ground communication (broadband), coordinated formation (low latency). 5G-based positioning, flexible uplink and downlink time slot ratio and slicing at the base stations. The objective is set to create the transportation industry solutions based on the 5G independent core network, and make verification of innovative solutions for 5G rail transportation related applications, laying a foundation for advancing the engineering application of 5G network in the field of rail transit.
Application of 5G technology in urban rail network will bring in revolutionary changes. Thanks to low latency, enhanced mobile broad band, and massive machine type connection, 5G will offer strong support to diversify the urban rail application scenarios, and contribute to upgrading of the industrial capacity, thereby creating brand new value. As the first 5G joint innovation laboratory for rail transit, the laboratory will continue to uphold the development strategy of the Development Outline of Smart Urban Rail of China Urban Rail Transit System, and build the domestic first independent 5G dedicated network for urban rail transit, which will provide a shared R&D verification platform that is more open to cultivate 5G+ Eco building. In the meanwhile, this will be bound to promote the urban rail transit industry to enter the era of intelligence and smart.
