PB-TACS Pioneers Use on Operational Line – Taiyuan Metro Line 1

(1) Opening time

February 22, 2025

(2) Project Overview

The total length of Phase I project is 28.737 km. There are 24 stations in total, all of which are underground stations. Among them, there is an interchange with Line 2 at Dananmen Station, and the conditions for interchanging with six stations are reserved. The average distance between stations is 1.249 km, the minimum distance between stations is 0.613 km, and the maximum distance between stations is 3.429 km.

(3) Technical solutions and their advantages and characteristics

Taiyuan Line 1: It takes the lead in adopting the independently developed perception-based train-to-train communication system (PB-TACS) and putting it into operation, achieving the GoA4 level of fully automatic driving.

● Convenient resource utilization and scheduling: Break the traditional way of resource requisition, refine line resources, improve utilization rate, support turning back at any position, and provide convenience for subway operation scheduling.

● Improvement of tracking and turning-back capabilities: Support "train-to-train" communication. Trains operate based on relative speeds, which enhances the system's tracking and turning-back capabilities and improves train operation efficiency.

● System Availability and Fault Disposal: It is equipped with a complete backup and degradation handling mode and a rapid upgrade function for faulty trains, which improves the system availability and the efficiency of operational fault disposal.

● Intelligent safety guarantee: Configure the SIL4-level ITE system to achieve autonomous positioning and obstacle detection. During the operation period, connect to the emergency braking system to enhance the safety of the FAO system and promote the intelligentization of the train control system.
