Fully Autonomous FAO National Demonstration Project - Beijing Subway Yanfang Line

(1) Opening time

December 30, 2017

(2) Project overview

The Yanfang Line of Beijing Subway is 14.4 kilometers long and is laid in an all-elevated manner. There are 9 stations in total. The trains are 4-carriage Type B trains (with a total of 16 trains).

(3) Technical solutions and advantages

The Yanfang Line in Beijing takes the lead in adopting the fully automatic operation FAO system, opening a new chapter in the driverless era of urban rail transit in China.

China's fully autonomous fully automatic operation line takes safety enhancement and efficiency improvement as the core, and creatively constructs a fully automatic operation system that conforms to China's national conditions. This project has achieved a leapfrog development from a single signaling system to full-system automation.

Technological innovation:
● Create a new full-system automation mode, and break through a complete set of equipment such as the FAO signaling system, FAO vehicles, integrated train operation automation, and LTE-M train-ground wireless communication.
● Establish a full-process control model covering train operation, passenger services, and emergency handling.
● Overcome core driverless technologies such as train self-check and wake-up, precise parking, and fault classification control.
● Develop key technologies for multi-professional collaborative control and intelligent operation and maintenance.

System construction:
● Innovatively propose the top-level design method of the overall system RAMS (Reliability, Availability, Maintainability, and Safety).
● Establish a multi-level redundancy mechanism to enhance reliability.
● Develop a multi-stage verification system to achieve full-process testing.
● Take the lead in completing the safety assessment and certification of the overall system.

(4) Project performance

● Expert evaluation: The Beijing Subway Yanfang Line project has shown outstanding performance and is a business card for technological innovation in China's urban rail transit.

? Together with the Fuxing Hao high-speed train, it is listed as two major achievements in the rail transit industry in the Three-Year Action Plan for Enhancing the Core Competitiveness of the Manufacturing Industry (2015 - 2017) issued by the National Development and Reform Commission.
