The 22nd UITP (International Association of Public Transport) Asia Pacific Regional Conference was successfully held in Hong Kong from 1st to 3rd November 2023.

"Transforming Asia: Smart Public Transport"

With the theme this year's conference was hosted by MTR Corporation, attracting over 230 participants from public transport government agencies, policymakers, operators, suppliers, and research institutions from China, Japan, Singapore, India, Thailand, Malaysia, and Indonesia.

UITP is the authoritative organization in the global public transport sector, dedicated to promoting sustainable transport development and innovation. Headquartered in Brussels, it has 1,700 member organizations spread across 96 countries. The UITP Asia-Pacific Regional Conference, as one of its significant sub-conferences, provides a key platform for countries in the Asia-Pacific region to exchange experiences, share best practices, and discuss industry trends, which is of great importance for promoting modern and efficient urban transport systems.

The current conference was held concurrently with the second MTR Global Operations Standards Institute (GOSI) Technical Seminar. Leveraging over 40 years of expertise and experience in railway operations, MTR has established railway operation standards and best practices, working together with experts in various fields to build a comprehensive set of MTR global standards.

TCT participated in the annual meeting as a gold sponsor and delivered a keynote speech. Mr. Wang Wei, the senior vice president of TCT, introduced the technical plan for upgrading the signalling system as a guest speaker. The unique value of the PB-TACS system in realizing resource sharing, shortening the installation and commissioning period, improving degradation efficiency, and ensuring driving safety was recognized and resonated with by the participants.
