On March 26th, 2021, Jinan Metro Line 2, equipped with the fully automatic operation signal system (FAO) of Traffic Control Technology Co., Ltd. (commonly known as "self-driving"), was successfully opened in accordance with the highest automation GoA4 level.

Independent brands once again achieve a new breakthrough in national application.


The fully automatic operation system adopted by Jinan Rail Transit Line 2 with completely independent intellectual property rights comes from Traffic Control Technology (688015.SH), which always adheres to independent innovation and is one of the first Science and Technology Innovation Board listed companies. The system was first applied to the national demonstration project of Beijing Metro Yanfang Line, which is one of the great achievements in the development of urban rail transit during the 13th five-year Plan period. It has won the first prize of Beijing Science and Technology Award and the first prize of Urban Rail Transit Science and Technology Progress Award.


Compared with the basic CBTC system, the fully automatic operation system can achieve a high degree of automation, improve the safety and reliability of the system, and improve the efficiency and flexibility of the operation organization, such as self-driving, automatic train awakening and dormancy, automatic parking, automatic car washing and other functions, with higher safety and efficiency.


China Urban Rail Transit Association attaches great importance to the research, innovation, application and promotion of fully automatic operation system with independent intellectual property rights. With the care and support of the Association and other units, China's autonomous FAO system has achieved a zero breakthrough, and gradually started the national application and promotion.


Jinan Rail Transit Line 2 is not only the first fully automatic operation line outside Beijing for Traffic Control Technology, but also the first fully automatic subway line in Shandong Province and the fifth city in the country. The smooth opening of this line means that traffic control technology has broken through the foreign monopoly in the self-developed CBTC system, helping our country to become the fourth in the world and the first in Asia to realize CBTC application, and quickly spread to the whole country and go abroad, and once again achieve a breakthrough in the application of independent research and development of FAO products in the whole country.

Different from the construction concept of traditional signal system, the opening of FAO system requires a high degree of coordination and close cooperation of various specialties, such as signal system, vehicle system, integrated supervisory system, communication system, platform door and so on, which is a great challenge to the technical co-ordination and project management of project builders.


As the manager of Jinan subway construction, Jinan Rail Transit Group Co., Ltd. (Jinan Rail Transit Group for short) co-ordinates various professional interfaces, creating more debugging time for bullet train commissioning. Guiding opinions are given during on-site installation, interlock opening and motor car commissioning, and pressure tests between 2-minute running intervals of 30 trains are organized to further verify the stability of the system and the reliability of various indicators. It provides strong support and guarantee for the construction and opening of the project. As the users of the equipment, the operating company actively participates in the scene test of the full automatic operation system during the construction of the project, and puts forward valuable opinions and suggestions combined with the experience of use.

As an engineering consultant specially introduced by Jinan Rail Transit Group, Beijing Metro Consultancy Co., Ltd. cooperates closely with Jinan Rail Group and Operation Company in many aspects, such as scene discussion, laboratory test, field test, operation consultation and so on, giving full play to the construction, management and operation experience of Beijing FAO. In addition, during the trial operation, a number of industry experts from the National Engineering Laboratory of Urban Rail Transit Train Communication and Operation Control (referred to as the "National Engineering Laboratory") were organized to witness the on-the-spot experts. Together with other participating units, we have handed over an almost perfect project answer paper.

After the opening of the project, Traffic Control Technology will continue to send engineers and technicians to assist in the initial driving protection work, to ensure that subway operation and maintenance personnel can skillfully master operation and maintenance skills, and according to passenger flow and system operation status, continue to implement new user requirements, so that operators and equipment systems to achieve the optimal match.


In the future, Traffic Control Technology will be guided by the development goal of the 14th Five-Year Plan and guided by the outline of Intelligent Urban Rail Transit Development in China, through the integration of new technologies such as 5G, artificial intelligence, big data and marginal computing, anchor the technological innovation frontier of the rail transit industry, continue to lead the innovation and development of China's rail transit industry, promote the development of the 14th Five-Year Plan and the construction of a "transportation power", and provide people with a better travel experience.


Introduction of Jinan Line 2:

Jinan Metro Line 2, with a total length of 36.4km and 19 stations, was opened for initial operation using DTO mode on March 26th. This line is the first fully automatic subway line in Shandong Province with one one-way running time of about 50 minutes. After operation, Line 2 can transfer with Line 1 and Line 3 to build an "H" operation pattern with one horizontal and two vertical lines, and the rail transit in Jinan is initially netted. The operating time is from 6:00 to 22:00, the departure interval is 6: 45 seconds during the peak working day, 8: 30 seconds during the peak period, and 8 minutes between rest days.
